Death
Even after nearly two and a half years on the road I'm still not
completely hardened to the sight of a dead body; the news that a
patient I have treated has died still hits hard and it is even harder
when a patient arrests in front of you. This has now happened to me
three times in less than a month. No matter how much running around I
did and how much kit we got from the back of the bus they still died.
Sometimes I feel so useless. Having nightmares about the person you
handed over to the coroner that day chasing you out of the house
because you did a crap job a fun too. Then I get a job where I can
actually help someone like the 92 year old on the floor at home with
hypothermia and no care in place. Hopefully my vulnerable adult form
will kick start a process that sees hime getting the care he needs
either at home or in a care establishment.
