Christmas Time

Have covered two shifts now for Dorset Ambulance. Both Friday nights. The first was the 16th which was dead quiet, the second was the 23rd which, unsurprisingly, was a lot busier. 12 hour shift and 9 jobs, 7 urgent transports, 1 routine and an emergency. Actually felt that we achieved something that night.

Helping Out Dorset Ambulance

Out with DorAmb on Friday night helping out as the run up to Christmas is their busiest time of the year. Started at 1800, fuinished at 0200 the next morning. Problem was that everything was deathly quiet and I spent a lot of time sat in the station or at various standby points round the lovely town of Poole. Have now decided that I really do need to buy a new ambulance as the siren on the Transit is really rather ropey. Rather than leave the ropey wail setting on I have now decided to drive with it switched off and go straight to yelp when necessary. I suppose that Friday night was the calm before the storm that will be the coming Friday aka Black Friday, busiest night of the year. I'm on from 1400 to 0200 Saturday morning. God Help Me!!
