3 Down 4 to Go

Three day shifts in to a batch of four followed by three night shifts. So far have had thre good calls amongst the nan downs and other run of the mill jobs. Those are a neonatal transfer of a patent ductus arteriousus to Southampton, a severe respiratory distress that came in as a Doctors Urgent ( Sp02 of 75%, resps of 32,resolved with Ipratropium and Salbutamol - well done Doc, try treating them next time)  and a ?CVA who had a GCS of 8 throughout. All good working jobs.

Ironman

Have just finished two day shifts for Doramb and then a day at the
Ironman triathlon for St John on Sunday. Nothing particularly
interesting on the Doramb shifts, grey ladies down and that sort of
thing.
Ironman was ok - worked mainly out of the Med Centre as Control was
anything but. For most of the night there were 5 vehicles sat outside
the Med centre as they didn't deploy us anywhere. A worked hard in the
Med Centre and got herself involved in an arrest. Think that this will
have helped with her confidence. Got to be involved with a patient
from start to finish and got complimented by his wife on the quality
of our care. Long hard day but enjoyed it all the same.

Nights

Have just finished 5 shifts in a row, 1 day and 4 nights. Have
actually picked up some interesting jobs. Bought Tom Reynold's book -
look forward to reading it. Two day shifts start at 0730 tomorrow and
then I'm out on duty with SJA at the Ironman in Sherborne on Sunday.
